Over the last 10 years, Rukmini has been training in Classical Ballet and western Classical forms of Modern dance. She began Ballet under, Yana Lewis (AISTD, UK) and has since studied Modern, Jazz and Ballet at the Defore dance center (LA) and several different studios in New York; STEPS, Broadway Dance Center etc. As her interest in the western forms increased and skills began to solidify, she applied to one of the most eminent performing Arts schools in the USA, the Boston Conservatory.

She graduated with Bachelors of Fine Arts in dance, (Modern and Ballet) after a rigorous four years, in 2007 becoming the first Indian to graduate with a Dance degree from The Boston Conservatory.

At the conservatory, they delved deeply into Limon, Taylor, Graham, Horton, and Release techniques of Modern dance, sculpting the skills of the dancers, making them apt in technique, artistry and performance. Classical ballet was studied everyday as a technical basis and strength building form.

She also studied other techniques such as, Jazz, Tap and African dance. At the conservatory she studied Laban movement analysis, Alexander technique, Pilates, Choreography, Dance Partnering, Stage, design, Pedagogy, dance history, and other subjects related to the performing arts.
